Abstract

RES (Renewable Energy Systems Ltd) is one of the world’s leading independent renewable energy companies. At the forefront of renewable energy development for over 39 years, RES, headquartered in the United Kingdom, has developed and/or built over 19 GW of renewable energy capacity worldwide. RES’​ core activities are onshore wind, offshore wind and solar, and technologies that will be enablers to a low carbon future – Energy Storage and Transmission & Distribution. RES operates assets of 7GW, signed 1.6GW corporate Power Purchase Agreements and offsets over 21 million tonnes of CO₂ every year.

Accepting “Energy for a Sustainable Future“ as a principle, RES Group decided to include Turkey in its global scale development in the year of 2009. Since it’s been founded, RES Anatolia has notched up success with the teams both on national and abroad that possesses different experiences including in site identification, measurement station configuration, risk and constraint analysis, attendance to the bids by performing EPDK pre-licence  applications, and gaining all permits that has to be done during the time of pre-licencing and going through licence level in every stage of project development. Only focused on renewable energy projects for 39 years, RES Group has completed developing 218 MW wind, 35 MW solar energy projects, has proceeded with developing 265 MW wind energy projects that are won in 2017 TEIAS (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation) capacity competitions in 12-year period in Turkey.

Biography

Born in İstanbul in 1985, Uğur Işık graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008, he earned his Executive MBA from Koc University in 2018.

Mr. Işık started his professional life at Esman Machinery in 2008 and since 2010 he has been working at the renewable energy sector. Between 2010 and 2011, he served as Business Development Coordinator being responsible for the installation of unlicensed wind turbines in Free Breeze Energy Systems, a Canada based wind turbine company. Since 2011, he has been working at RES Anatolia Holding A.Ş, the Turkish subsidiary of RES Group, for the development of wind and solar projects at various positions. Mr. Işık has been working as the General Manager of RES Anatolia since March 2021.

Uğur Işık is married with two children.
