Climate and Energy Policies and Practices in Local Governments

Abstract

Izenerji Company has achieved serious success by acquiring 3 European missions on behalf of Izmir in the competitions opened by the European Commission, with the appointment of the former Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Tunç Soyer. Izenerji, which prepared the Climate City Agreement with the participation of all Izmir within the scope of the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission, ensured that Izmir was approved by the EU authorities and received the “Mission Labelled City” Title. Thus, the European Union has committed to providing the financing of the said investment plan.

In addition, Izmir has been entitled to participate in the “Creating Actionable Futures (CrAFt) Cities” EU platform, which highlights culture and art events for young people.

In addition, Izenerji has different subsidiaries for different sectors;

• Izetaş INC supplies the electricity needs of our Municipality’s institutions and companies from renewable sources.
• İzarıtma INC and İzar INC treatment technologies design, construction and operation companies that we established serve as subcontractors for the improvement of current 3 phases and 4th phase of the İZSU Çiğli Wastewater Treatment Plant.
• İzgüneş INC, implemented the Tire Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Stadium Roof Solar Power Plant project, which was on its agenda immediately after its establishment, in a very short time of 3 months. The power plant still produces electricity.

Biography

He was born in Izmir at 1959. He accomplished his primary and secondary education in Izmir. He completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Naval Architecture and Mechanical Engineering (1982), and his graduate education at ITU Science Institute (1984). He completed his military service with the rank of Second Lieutenant at the Coast Guard Aegean Regional Command in İzmir Bayraklı. He worked in private sector companies with domestic and foreign capital as technical staff, business development specialist, project manager and senior manager. He has 20 years of management experience in foreign companies. He worked on Engineering Economics, Creation of corporate company identity, productivity, efficiency and profit optimization in companies, operational and financial project development, planning, auditing and management. He is the father of a daughter.
