National and Domestic Potential for 100% Transformation to Renewable Energy
Abstract
75% of the energy generated from fossil fuels in Turkey and nearly 73% of the resources used for energy generation is imported. Our energy policy is foreign-dependent and dirty and this situation is the main reason for unsustainability in politics and bureaucracy
Use of fossil sources for energy generation damages the nature and is the main reason for environmental problems. Energy generation from renewable sources become a current issue.
After the oil crisis in 1973, most of the countries in the World needed to plan their energy production capacities based on renewable energy sources and go towards to energy generation from renewable sources.
They created unique models and with the ownership of the public they discovered and popularize “the energy of the community”. They defined new objectives from renewable sources to reach 100% of their requirements. They achieve these goals with successfully applications.
The projects which are civil society dialog like “community power” are paving the way for Turkey. To define a road map for Çanakkale where there is a potential for transformation to renewable sources, some examination and observation studies were completed in Denmark, Folkecenter. Positive and negative impacts of impose of their model in Turkey were defined.
Turkey has a big potential of good conditions and resources for 100 % transformation to renewable energy. We need a visionary decision making mechanisms, incentives for renewable sources for energy generation, powerfully democracy and public ownership. Energy cooperatives should serve to public as a non-profit organizations as they have been in west
