Requirements and Processes for the Transition to Renewable Energy in Merzifon

Abstract

In Merzifon, steps have been taken towards becoming a more environmentally friendly and sustainable municipality with the Carbon Footprint Project. One of the most important steps is the transition to renewable energy.

In addition to the processes for wind energy plants, Merzifon Municipality is also carrying out processes for solar energy plants. The fact that the municipality’s annual electricity consumption exceeds 8 million kWh and that 70% of this electricity is used to meet the city’s water needs requires urgent measures by the Merzifon Municipality. The slow and bureaucratic processes encountered in this regard affect all municipalities. In this regard, it is important to re-plan processes with stakeholders.

Merzifon Municipality aims to use all available resources effectively. In addition to energy production, various other initiatives are being carried out, such as efficient and economical use of energy, water management, and recycling of waste.
