Development of Geothermal and Biomass Fired Power Plants in Turkey

Abstract

The increase in the world’s population, the efforts to increase the level of development and prosperity are constantly increasing, the energy demand in general, and in particular the demand for electricity. On the other hand, technological developments and increasing environmental problems have led to the use of new sources in electricity generation and consumption. In parallel with the increasing share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation in recent years, the amount of electricity generated and consumed in geothermal energy-based and biomass-fueled electricity generation facilities also increases.

In this study, development of geothermal energy-based and biomass-fueled power plants in Turkey’s liberalized electricity market was examined.
