Growth in Renewables, Needs and Consequences
Abstract
I plan to mention the growing need to renewables in response to the energy security concerns and consequences of this huge move within renewables ecosysteme; such as with regards to development pipeline, financing, supply chain and even in needs for changing technical skills and skilled personnel.
Biography
Ibrahim Erden was elected as the Chairman of the Board for a period of three years at the TWEA General Assembly held on February 20, 2022, which was elected by the Board of Directors. Erden, who has been working in various private companies and positions in the energy sector for many years, has been working as CEO at RENECORE Enerji Yatırımları A.Ş. since 2022. Before his current position he worked as Vice President at RHG Enertürk Enerji Üretim A.Ş. and also he served as Vice President in charge of Business Development and Power Plant Investments at Kalyon Energy, including responsibility for RERA wind and solar projects.
Between the years of 2006 and 2018, he carried out different tasks at Enerjisa by undertaking strategy, business development, renewable energy investments and investment management, project development process management, mergers and acquisitions, contract management, management of production and distribution privatization processes and similar responsibilities.
Having extensive experience in the field of energy and industry in Turkey and the USA in the past years, Erden has previously worked in Arçelik and MR Valuation Consulting companies in different expertise and management positions.
Ibrahim Erden, the President of TWEA, has served as a member of the board of directors representing Enerjisa and Kalyon Energy in the past management of the Turkish Wind Energy Association since 2013. In addition, according to this sector, he has been a GÜYAD member and founding member since October 2017 and a member of DEK-TMK for many years.
Having graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Boğaziçi University, Erden also completed a Master’s Degree in the same field at Rutgers University in New Jersey and an Executive MBA program at Sabancı University. He is currently continuing his Doctoral Studies in the field of Energy Economics and Politics at Ege University.
