Abstract
The energy needs of our country and the world are increasing day by day. Environmental damages and costs of fossil fuels have increased interest in renewable energy. Biogas, which is one of the renewable energy sources, attracts attention in our country. There are 45 biogas plants from animal manure and agricultural wastes in Turkey with total electric capacity of 106 MWe. The average installed electric capacity of the existing biogas plants is 2.4 MWe. This study aims to provide information about the types of waste and biogas plants used in Turkey.
