THE ESSENTIALS OF BETTER INTEGRATION OF PV SYSTEMS THROUGH INNOVATIVE PRODUCT DESIGNS
Abstract
Integration of PV systems into products and buildings is not a novel concept. It dates back to the invention of first silicon solar cells. New advancements in design and implementation have been achieved as result of cost reductions due to increase in manufacturing volumes and the
rise in the efficiency and also the social acceptance of photovoltaic technologies. Due to substantially lower solar electricity prices of today, it is possible to take into account creative applications for their integration in both urban and rural areas. By enabling more variety in integration and placement, PV technologies can be realized more in our daily routines to meet our energy needs. However, to encourage the widespread adoption of PV technologies in our living spaces, some advancements are required.
In this talk, the essentials of better integration of PV systems through successful and innovative product designs will be reviewed.
